The undergraduate course will take approximately 1.5 hours to complete. You will be automatically enrolled in this course and able to access the course in Canvas. Students who have attained a bachelor’s degree will be assigned to the graduate-level course, Graduate Student Upstanders.Įach course incorporates bystander intervention, campus policies, behavioral expectations, and information critical to the prevention of relationship violence. Students who have not yet attained their bachelor’s degree will be assigned to the undergraduate course, Voices for Change. These courses are assigned based on degree attainment upon entering the university. This is a requirement for all students regardless of whether they are engaging in online or on-campus instruction. It also provides students with foundational context to articulate healthy and unhealthy relationship behaviors.Īll incoming students, undergraduate and graduate, are required to complete the assigned Violence Prevention course. It encourages students to reflect critically on the personal beliefs, social norms, and cultural pressures that enable high-risk behaviors. The training explores the challenges and responsibilities of college life and addresses the interconnection between drug and alcohol abuse, decision-making, and sexual violence. These interactive courses provide new Gators with the language and skills to cultivate healthier relationships and prevent interpersonal violence.

The goal of this course is to help students make healthy decisions and promote a positive and safe culture on and off-campus. The violence prevention hold requires all new students to complete a course on violence prevention. Violence prevention education is an integral part of the culture of care at the University of Florida.
